OSCF RESEARCH:
UNDERSTANDING HUNTERS’ KNOWLEDGE OF, AND INTEREST IN “R3”
The concept of “R3”; Recruiting, Retaining, and Reactivating Hunters, Anglers, Trappers, and Target Shooters (HATS™) has been a focus of many organizations in the outdoor industry for years.
With the bulk of land, fish, and wildlife conservation funding coming from HATS, and the important role they play in maintaining healthy wildlife populations, it is crucial to sustain, or increase where appropriate, the number of people that participate in hunting, fishing, trapping and target shooting across America.
This, first-of-its-kind, research identifies current hunters’ interest in supporting R3 efforts which will assist with organizational goals to have the correct number of hunters to match opportunity and carrying capacities.
